Assignment: Make something big.

Have you ever had the experience of being at home in your kitchen, cooking and could not find the right spices for your dinner? For this specific reason and this week's assignment, I decided to design something useful for my house: a spice rack. I began by designing my object in Corel Draw. Below is a captured image of the finished design for the rack, which is composed of 3 sides to the frame and 3 trays for the spices.

Before cutting out my pieces, I also created test joints to be sure that the framing would fit right.

Once my test joints were done, I placed my sheet of plywood on the table for the ShopBot and created my path to cut out my rack pieces. Below is a captured image for the created bath in PartWorks.

Below are images for the parts of the rack after being cut out by the ShopBot.

After my pieces were cut, I found some issues with my entire piece. Unfortunately, the slots for my trays to the frame did not fit together because I mistakenly made my slots smaller than the thickness of my material. A good outcome after cutting out the rack was that my joints did fit perfectly.
